Open Source

Applied Combinatorics is open source and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC-BY-SA). Put informally, this means that you’re free to use Applied Combinatorics (including its source) and make adaptations. However, you must keep our names as authors intact as you do this (adding your own if you make additional contributions). Furthermore, you must redistribute any adaptations under the same license or a compatible one. See the Creative Commons website for more details.

The development of the 2016 Edition of Applied Combinatorics came about in part because of the American Institute of Mathematics (AIM) and the AIM open textbooks initiative. Since Fall 2016, Applied Combinatorics has been on the AIM list of approved open textbooks.

Because Applied Combinatorics is truly open source, we make the MathBook XML source available on GitHub. For the moment, Mitch’s applied-combinatorics repository is the place to go, but we’re in the process of reconfiguring this and will update this page once a more permanent repository is in place. If you find a typo or error in Applied Combinatorics, please contact us or feel free to submit a pull request through GitHub. Soon, we will begin welcoming additional contributions (additional material, more SageMath cells, whatever the community might find useful) via GitHub.
